Woman, 20, is charged over vehicle thefts in Lhanbryde

POLICE HAVE CHARGED a woman for alleged thefts from motor vehicles in Lhanbryde – including the theft of a motorbike.

The arrest of a 20-year-old follows incidents between May 2 and May 12 around both Lhanbryde and Fochabers.

Leading the investigation was Inspector David Hoyle from the Lossiemouth Community policing team, who issued a warning to the public over the dangers of acquisitive crimes.

As the woman was due to appear in court on Tuesday, Inspector Hoyle said: “Acquisitive crime such as thefts from houses, vehicles and thefts of vehicles is a top priority for operational policing here in the North East and will not be tolerated.

“I would always advise members of the public to ensure their homes and vehicles are locked when unattended and overnight. Valuables, that could prove to be a temptation to opportunistic thieves, should also be kept out of sight.

“Anyone who sees anything suspicious in their community should contact police on 101.”
