Stuart with long term collaborator and friend Karen presenting Newsbeat

We start today with sharing the sad news, of which our Facebook followers will already be aware, of the passing of our founding editor, Stuart Crowther.

Writing on our Fb group page last night, long term collaborator and friend Karen, wrote: “This is a very difficult post for me to write, but it was with great sadness that we share the news of Stuart Crowther’s passing on Sunday night.

When STV’s local website news finished, Stuart’s passion for local journalism inspired him to create InsideMORAY. Little was he to know how big it would grow and how people would come to rely on their morning fix of Moray news. Dedicated to the cause, Stuart was up at 4am every morning, to make sure his regular viewers would get the news with their morning cuppa.

I had the pleasure of supporting Stuart both in this group and on his radio show, and have fond memories of the laughs we shared with our guests from across the political divide.

There’s so much more I could write about Stuart, but there’s time for that yet. In the meantime, I and the team at InsideMORAY would like to send our thoughts and deepest sympathies to his beloved wife, Linda, their family and friends.

Stuart, you will be sorely missed. K”

Stuart touched the life of many, and tributes have been flowing from all quarters. Those of us who have had the fortune to meet him in person will remember him as a passionate, intelligent and caring man. Moray will be the poorer for his passing.
