One year on Moray Wellbeing Hub goes on tour

A CELEBRATION IS being planned one year on from the establishment of a project in Moray that seeks to improve the wellbeing of those who suffer mental health issues and their families.

To mark the first anniversary the Moray Wellbeing Hub are organising a series of free events throughout March that they hope will further encourage people to look after their own wellbeing.

At each event there will be taster sessions drawn from the courses by offered by the Hub, as well as others being offered by their partner organisations such as the Lossiemouth-based ‘Mind Your Head Moray’.

The sessions will also offer greater opportunities for people to have their say in the creation of new support groups in their own communities.

A spokeswoman said: “This is a chance to explore how best to resource your emotional health and be more resilient, to connect with others who have similar experiences and share tips, to learn how to help the people you care about to have the lives they want to live.

“We focus on wellbeing, not labels of mental or physical illness. We challenge the stigma that surrounds mental health and stops us from appreciating that it is a universal asset, all humans have mental health and it goes up and down over time. Illness, physical or mental, is just one area of crisis everyone faces in life.”

There will be six events in March, beginning at the Ramnee Hotel in Forres on March 7. Two days later the Stotfield Hotel in Lossiemouth will host an event, before the Memorial Hall in Dufftown hosts the third on March 14.

March 15 will see the Riverside Hall in Buckie hosting an event, then on March 20 the Longmore Hall in Keith, before finally on March 31 the Laichmoray Hotel in Elgin.

Each event will feature a drop-in session from 2pm until 6pm and evening seminar from 6pm until 8pm – although there will be no seminar at the Elgin event.
