Mobile Codfather chip van explodes in Moray town

FIREFIGHTERS FROM LOSSIEMOUTH and Elgin were rushed to deal with an explosion in the coastal town this evening.

Crews from Elgin and Lossiemouth were joined by Ambulance crews at the scene close to Lossiemouth High School on Coulardbank Road shortly after 7.15pm.

It is understood that a loud explosion was heard around the town – it is not known if there were any casualties but the Buckie-based Mobile Codfather van was severely damaged.

A local resident told insideMoray: “I was just watching TV when a horrendous bang shook the house – when I looked out there was a lot of smoke coming from the back of the van. I’m not sure how many were inside the van or if anyone was around it at the time.”

Update: Early reports indicate that apart from shock and some minor injuries nobody was harmed.

This was confirmed by a statement  on the Mobile Codfather Facebook  page this evening: “Everyone OK, can’t thank everyone enough for their help. Also apologise to all neighbours around about for the scare. The van will be off the road until further notice but we will keep you all updated.”
