Moray Council

Moray Council have confirmed that the current acting corporate director of education has been appointed on a permanent basis.

Former head teach Laurence Findlay, 40, took over the duties of his predecessor Sandy Riddell in August when he left to take up a new position at Fife Council.

Mr Findlay stepped up from his former position as head of schools and curriculum development at the local authority.

Prior to joining the Moray Council he was teaching at Stewart’s Melville College in Edinburgh and was acting principle teacher at Fraserburgh Academy. After moving to Moray in 2003 he was principal teacher of modern studies at Keith Grammar and head teacher at Forres Academy.

Mr Findlay said of his appointment: “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed to the post of corporate director at such an exciting time in the development of education and social care services locally and nationally.

“I look forward to working with all our services across Moray to ensure continuous improvement.”
