Man had been walking from Dr Gray’s in Elgin.

THE PEDESTRIAN WHO was struck by a supermarket delivery truck on the A96 close to Dr Gray’s Hospital at the weekend has died.

Police named the man as 54-year-old Gerard Campbell from Elgin, saying that he had sadly died from his injuries at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Tuesday.

Mr Campbell had been walking from the hospital before being struck by the lorry at around 12.35pm on Saturday.  He was initially taken to the nearby hospital but his injuries were such that he was later transferred to Aberdeen.

Police have said that their enquiries into the tragic accident are continuing and are appealing for witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so.

Road Policing sergeant Colin Matheson said: “Our thoughts are obviously with family and friends of Mr Campbell at this very sad time.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information, or anyone who was at the scene at the time and has not yet spoken to the Police, to get in touch by calling 101.”
