MORAY COUNCIL ARE urging prospective candidates for the forthcoming local elections in May to book a place on their information session being held this weekend.

The local authority has said that places are still available for the session in the council chambers on Saturday, March 4 from 10am until 12noon.

Senior officers from the election team will be on hand to outline the role of a councillor and answer any questions candidates may wish to put to them.

Information will also be available on the nominations process and on the elections themselves. All 26 seats will be decided over the eight multi-member wards, with those elected expected to serve a five-year term.

However, attendance at the session will be informal and will be entirely without commitment from those in attendance.
