Cancer charity seeking out purple-clad warriors to Castle gathering

RESIDENTS FROM THROUGHOUT the north-east have been invited to sign up for a new fundraising event for a leading cancer support charity which will be held in the heart of Royal Deeside.

‘CLAN at the Castle’ will take place in the grounds of Crathes Castle on Sunday, September 10 from 10am to 4pm to raise funds for CLAN Cancer Support.

On the day, the historic 16th century castle near Banchory will provide the backdrop for three sponsored walk routes and a fun day with inflatables, entertainment and refreshments. The sponsored walks will cover 1 mile, 5.7 miles and 13 miles, taking in woodland tracks around the castle grounds and local area.

The fun day will be open to all, with members of the public encouraged to come along, enjoy the day and support those taking part in the walks.

Steph Dowling, CLAN’s Fundraising Team Manager, is looking forward to the new event and anticipates significant interest and people signing up to take part from across Moray and the north-east.

She said: “CLAN at the Castle promises to be a fantastic day, it will have something for everyone and I’m delighted that we are able to take such a fantastic event to the heart of Royal Deeside Our fundraising walks have always been well attended and I’d like to invite residents from across the north-east to sign up to take part and enjoy the day with us in the grounds of Crathes Castle.

“We wanted to create a day which had something for everyone, whether you are taking part as an individual, or as a families, group or corporate team.

“Thanks to the dedication of those who raise crucial funds for CLAN at events like these, we are able to continue to develop the wellbeing and support services needed for people affected by cancer right in the heart of local communities across the north-east of Scotland.”
